Stave Scenery
A vestry scene,
far off, long since:
hushed voices quibble,
secret as envy.
Yes, nacre vest
hangs beguilingly,
all eyes scanning
severest cyan.
Yet verses can
scarcely convey
the verdancy of
seventy acres.
Scan every set
of silver, and see—
such fineries are
never ecstasy.
