Sandra Fees
Sunrise Pond after Sunset
Windgust and rainsplotch,
our hair cantillating rain
and smoke, we burn
our handwritten intentions—
trust myself, care for my body,
find a true path. Maracas shimmy
our notes to wherever they are going,
to wherever we are going.
Above us, the one
moon, obscured.
Peepers trill, lovesick.
Listen! The starless hours
open their silent eyes.
